Physics I AP / Dual

Course Description: AP Physics 1 is an introductory AP science course. This course has been designed to introduce students to the rigor and expectations for taking AP science courses by offering a hybrid style ADV/AP level course. This is done by teaching all content twice, both at the ADV level as well as at the AP level. The ultimate goal of the course is to earn one semester's credit for Physics in college through successful completion of the AP Exam in May. AP Physics 1 is a mechanics physics course. That is, we study motion. Describing motion and explaining motion through Kinematics, Newton's Laws, Energy and Momentum, and Rotational Physics. Topics Covered: Kinematics Newtonian Mechanics Universal Gravitation Uniform Circular Motion Simple Harmonic Motion Work, Energy, and Power Static and Dynamic Rotation Major Assignments: Online Homework Videos and Quizzes Labs and Lab Quizzes ADV and AP level Summative Tests PR: Recommended: Algebra 1, Geometry and corequisite Algebra II or an equivalent course.
