Recommended Grade Level: 10-12
Course Description: Students who enjoy watching movies and discussing films will find this class intriguing. They will be exposed to an extensive array of films.
Topics Covered: The first semester examines all the technical aspects of films such as camera angles and cinematography. The students will gain an understanding of all that goes into making a film. The second semester covers the history of cinema and a wide range of film genres. Students will be able to trace the origins of film to trends in modern movies.
Major Assignments: Each six weeks students will take two tests over the subjects and films covered in that grading period. There is one group project in which the students create their own film and edit it in class.
Outside time requirement: Other than the one film project which is shot outside of class, there is no homework or outside of class assignments.
