College Algebra Honors/Dual
Recommended Grade Level: 10-12
Course Description: College Algebra Honors/Dual is designed to prepare the student to earn college credit for College Algebra via either the CLEP Test (if course is not taken for dual credit) or dual credit (if student applied for dual credit through Northwest Vista College). Concepts/topics to be covered include, but are not limited to, the set of complex numbers and its subsets (real and imaginary numbers); graphing conics; graphing polynomial functions; properties of logarithms; and solving linear, quadratic, radical, and absolute-value equations.
Topics Covered: Concepts/topics to be covered include, but are not limited to, the set of complex numbers and its subsets (real and imaginary numbers); graphing conics; graphing polynomial functions; properties of logarithms; and solving linear, quadratic, radical, and absolute-value equations. College Algebra goes more in-depth into many of the topics covered in Algebra 2, giving students the opportunity to explore and learn these topics at a deeper level, and with an increased number of application problems.
*If students intend to take the CLEP Test, they will need to sign up for the test at a college/university that is an official test administration site. Cost depends on the college or university, but is usually $85-$115.
Prerequisites: Algebra 1, Geometry and Algebra 2
