PR: Biology; Suggested IPC or Chemistry or concurrent enrollment in either course. Course Description: Students study a variety of topics that include: biotic and abiotic factors in habitats, ecosystems, and biomes, interrelationships among resources and an environmental system, sources and flow of energy through an environmental system, relationship between carrying capacity and changes in populations and ecosystems, and changes in the environments. This class will cover major environmental topics such as acid rain, biodiversity, climate change, energy, the atmosphere, water, soil, human populations and pollution. Because this class is Environmental SCIENCE, it will have a large laboratory and field investigation component. This allows you, the student, to learn about the environment through first hand observation. You are part of a generation with the responsibility to do something amazing! It is our belief that this is one of the most relevant and important classes you will take because it addresses issues you will face throughout your life. You are living in a phenomenal age of technology and enlightenment. We hope that what you learn in ES will inspire you to be the trailblazers, the inventors and the advocates for all other life.
